UFC Vegas 20 was a great event over the weekend for us UFC fans. There weren’t many stoppages to make things a bit juicier, but we were surprised with a few dog wins – at least some of us were. Throughout Saturday night, there was also one T/KO by Ronnie Lawrence against Vince Cachero and one draw between Montana de la Rosa and Mayra Bueno Silva. However, I want to focus on two specific dog winners and also recognize the winner of the Main Event.

UFC Lightweight: Alexander Hernandez vs. Thiago Moises – Preliminary Card

The first fight I would love to recognize was between Lightweights, Alexander Hernandez (12-4-0) and Thiago Moises (15-4-0). Coming into this fight, Hernandez was the favorite with juiced odds at –211 via BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), and Moises at +181.

How

So, I thought this was a highly entertaining fight – there was a lot of action as both fighters stayed active. Moises overall was the sharper fighter. He was able to counter beautifully and utilized his calf kicks. The two fighters exchanged hits and worked at a fast pace, both aiming for a finish. Wide hooks were thrown, kicks were projected to break bones, but neither fighter could drop the other.

  1. Mar 06, 2021 We’ll keep you up to date with all the latest results, scheduled fights, top fighters, and more from the UFC in 2021. If you already have a streaming package you like and all you want is.
  2. Julianna Pena (9-4) is back and desperate to get some more fights under the belt. She has only had seven UFC fights since her debut in 2013 mainly due to a that catastrophic knee injury. She has only fought twice since her submission loss to Valentina Shevchenko in 2017 taking time out having a baby.

It was the first time I ever bet $1 million dollars because I was so confident Taylor was going to win that fight,” Dana White said. With sports betting being something that can bring newer fans to the UFC product, and current fans even closer to it, expect White to continue to lend his support for its state-wide and global legalization. A list of top hottest UFC female fighters can’t be complete without Paige VanZant. The blonde is widely considered to be one of the most beautiful US athletes. Her beauty and charisma are the reasons why she caught the eyes of producers of non-MMA-focused shows, including Chopped and Dancing With The Stars.

Although you could agree with me that this fight was very close, Moises did contain control of the fight. He stayed in the center and kept pressure on Hernandez while performing very well with his striking. Moises switched up his combos, swinging wide and powerful; he was working in high kicks as well. Yet where he truly succeeded was with his calf kicks. Those kicks dazed Hernandez and gave Moises the advantage. However, we should really not be too surprised. Look at Hernandez’s stats; he absorbs an average of 4.0 strikes while landing 2.71.

I have always thought Moises was an exceptional fighter. Before his fight with Hernandez, Moises was coming off of a win against the “King” in Bobby Green having been priced with UFC odds at +250. There is a great amount of value lying under the name Thiago Moises. So, the next time you see him at dog-odds, depending on who his opponent is, don’t underestimate him!

UFC Bantamweight: Pedro Munhoz vs. Jimmie Rivera – Main Card

The next fight I would like to discuss is Pedro Munhoz vs. Jimmie Rivera. I will not say everyone, but the majority of the public was on Rivera and thought that would be an easy win for him. Boy were we wrong!

This fight was special because this was the rematch to their first meeting in 2015 where Jimmie Rivera (23-5-0) won via split decision. This time around, the two were in a full out brawl throughout all 3 rounds. Munhoz really prepared for this rematch, and he knew all eyes were on Rivera getting the W.

Very similar to the previous fight I just wrote about, Pedro Munhoz (19-5-0) implemented his calf-kicks into his striking and he really destroyed Rivera’s leg. In between rounds, Rivera was telling his corner “my calf is killing me”! You could vividly see the swelling in Rivera’s leg. The swelling was wearing down on him but also did not stop him from trying to win. In the third round, Rivera was even more aggressive by throwing knockout power punches. Munhoz was patient and dodged blows with precise timing and utilized his calf kicks.

Let’s just say it was nice seeing Munhoz get the win. He was underrated in this fight just based off of their previous matchup. Jimmie Rivera entered the fight on Saturday night with odds at –150 via BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), Pedro Munhoz had odds at +118. Pedro “the Young Punisher” Munhoz is another fighter you cannot and should not underestimate. But the real question is…will there be a trilogy?

UFC Heavyweight: Jairzinho Rozenstruik vs. Ciryl Gane – Main Event

It’s now time to talk about the main event, and all I need to say is Ciryl Gane is THE Bon Gamin that showed how intelligent of a fighter he is. Although Jairzinho Rozenstruik (11-2-0) really prepared for this fight by heavily training and getting into shape, he could not keep up with the Frenchman. It was very clear that Gane had control of the entire fight.

Ciryl Gane (8-0-0) really did his homework for Saturday night. Bigi Boy is known for his heavy-hitting, knockout power punches – Gane took that into account and managed to stay patient at bay and timed each shot perfectly. Gane also utilized his takedown “threats” which would force Rozenstruik to backoff. No matter what Rozenstruik did, he could not land on the Frenchman.

I mean let’s look at their stats really quick: Rozenstruik only managed to land 42 out of 104 significant strikes, while Gane landed 102 out of 176! It’s very clear who was the patient and more superior fighter in this matchup.

What’s Next for Gane?

Gane is up on the rise and added another win to his list, continuing his undefeated record. After the fight, he told reporters “I expected a little bit more from him, maybe more attacks. I was a little bit surprised for that. But I’m just happy.”I believe a lot of us were shocked with Rozenstruik’s performance. He was not aggressive. It appeared as if he might have been intimidated by Gane and his reputation. Hopefully for his next fight, he will fight with more power.

Going into this fight, Ciryl Gane was the rightful juiced favorite with UFC odds at –230 via BetOnline (visit our BetOnline Review), and Jairzinho Rozenstruik entered with odds at +195. I am very excited to see what’s in store for Gane. He stated in an interview that he will be waiting on standby if Francis Ngannou or Stipe Miocic gets injured – or for any reason for that matter – for the belt. I know it won’t be for a while, but I am curious and excited to see how Ciryl Gane performs against the Predator in Francis Ngannou.

Closing Remarks and What’s Next?

UFC Vegas 20 was a spectacular event. Even though we had an event filled with many fights going the distance, it was still a highly entertaining fight night. Let’s give a big shout out to all of the dog winners – Alexis Davis (Odds at +180), Thiago Moises (+170), and Pedro Munhoz (+118)!!

Now, this upcoming weekend – Saturday, March 6th – we have UFC 259 with THREE title fights in the main card! We first will have the Bantamweight Title Bout with Petr Yan vs. Aljamain Sterling, Women’s Featherweight Title Bout with Amanda Nunes vs. Megan Anderson, and for the main event, the Light Heavyweight bout with Jan Blachowicz vs. Israel Adesanya.

As this list is about female UFC fighters, we need to mention that her current ranking in the UFC women’s bantamweight rankings is #2. In her entire professional MMA career, Holm has won 13 fights, while losing only five.

Holm was the main protagonist of what’s considered to be the biggest upset in the history of UFC. In 2015, she won the bantamweight title by beating Ronda Rousey in front of the record crowd (56k people) in Melbourne at the UFC 193.

MMA fans follow her on Instagram and Twitter to admire her fighting skills. Of course, that’s not the only reason. No one can deny that she’s a true beauty. And why is that her nickname? Because, apparently, she looks Russian. At least that’s what her coach thought when he gave her this moniker.

At first, she thought of it as a joke, but then decided to embrace it. In her native Texas, she’s seen as a baddie, but when in contact with Russians, she’s a sort of a hero. When she appeared in a KGB bikini at a Mau Thai championship, the entire Russian team came to her to take a photo.

Claudia Gadelha says her childhood was tough, but wait till you hear the story of Randa Markos. This UFC star was born in Iraq in 1985, in the middle of the Iran-Iraq War.

Her family is of Chaldean Catholic heritage, which made them a target of both sides involved in the war. As a result, they were held at gunpoint on one occasion while she was a baby. That was good enough of a motivation for them to flee to Canada in 1988.

The Markos family left the war behind and started living a good life. Randa went on to finish TriOS College and get a Pharmacy Assistant Diploma. For a while, she worked as a pharmacy technician in Windsor, while training MMA in her spare time.

It tuned out that she was a natural, which inspired her to leave her daytime job and become a pro fighter. She made her debut in 2012 in IFL 51 with a win over Allana Jones. Two years later, she signed for UFC, from where her career went upwards. As of 2020, she has a record of 10 wins and 8 losses, but she’s still an active fighter with no retirement plans.
